Original Signed Figure Study Attributed to Carles Alavedra (1949)

$395.00
Description

Barcelona, Spain, 1949

Before Instagram, artists simply carried sketchbooks.

Signed C. Alavedra and dated 1949, this original figure study was sourced in Barcelona, where it quietly spent decades before finding its way into The Country House Collection.

Attributed to Catalan artist and stained-glass designer Carles Alavedra, whose work contributed to some of Spain's most significant ecclesiastical interiors, this intimate sketch offers a glimpse into the artist's hand beyond monumental commissions.

There's something incredibly special about original sketches. They're where artists stopped worrying about perfection and simply drew.

Every confident line remains visible. Every hesitation does too.

Still housed in its original gilt frame, it has developed the soft patina only seventy-five years can create.

Some artwork fills a wall.

This one gives a room a point of view.

Item Condition

Excellent vintage condition.

Seventy-five years have left a few gentle traces on the original frame—and we wouldn't have it any other way. The artwork itself presents beautifully and is ready for its next home.
