Spanish Tinaja Glazed Jar, c. 1880–1900
Description
Spain — very likely Catalonia or Valencia
Not all kitchen vessels were hidden away. In a barniz rojo, this late-19th-century Tinaja jar stored everyday staples like olive oil or wine within reach for the daily dining table. Fully glazed for easy cleaning and hand-decorated with slip lines for grip, it lived in the working kitchen rather than the pantry.
Utility, but with personality.
Very Good - in beautiful antique condition, with lots of patina, character and age... just the way we like it!

Styling
This one can handle a little more attention than the others. Originally a kitchen vessel, now a focal point in any room.
Best placement:
- open shelving
- kitchen counter corner
- end of a dining console
- beside cookbooks
Because it was originally visible, it tolerates being styled more than the preservation jars.
